Maintenance Fitter - Weekend

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Fitter on a 2 year Fixed Term Contract. Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, we are looking for a highly motivated self starter who is dependable, detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks concurrently. The role requires flexibility to work weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance, repair and installation of miscellaneous machines and services throughout the factory, in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
• Work in accordance with preventative maintenance schedules, job cards and procedures.
• Maintain records, either manually or using a PC based recording system.
• Record service/preventative maintenance activities and sign off completed job cards.
• Update shift handover logbook at the end of the shift.
• Update spare parts log/store inventories and record parts used.
• Provide feedback on machine weak points and further maintenance requirements.
• Learn how machines function and develop skills, knowledge and competencies regarding machine maintenance tasks.
• Work on own initiative and liaise with operators, chargehands, supervisors and others to complete maintenance tasks.
• Check machine manuals, drawings, preventative maintenance schedules etc. when required to complete tasks.
• Remove machines from service when they pose a health and safety risk if returned to operation.
• Provide training on current and future machines/services within the company, including potential travel abroad.

Qualifications, Requirements & Experience

• Qualified Fitter or other relevant mechanical qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years' previous experience in a maintenance department.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces is essential.
• Basic PC skills are required.
• Experience in the use and/or maintenance/repair of overhead cranes and lifting equipment is an advantage.
• Experience with heavy steel construction environment is an advantage.
• Must be available to work weekends 06:30 am - 18:30 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
