Macmillan Educator Clinical Nurse Specialist

Band 7 post, closed 05 January 2026. Working Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00 across CDDFT.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver the established educational programme for Palliative and End of Life Care, leading and facilitating training sessions.
  • Plan, prepare and support the training calendar in liaison with the Training and Development department.
  • Support Palliative Care Consultants, the wider workforce and stakeholders across CDDFT.
  • Provide feedback, coaching and mentorship to learners to embed practice.
  • Lead by action, inspire others and act as a role model.
  • Contribute to programme reviews, audits and share outcomes to support improvement.
Person Specification Qualifications
  • First level degree in a related subject.
  • Evidence of teaching qualification (Cert Ed or equivalent).
  • Evidence of Masters level learning or willingness to pursue.
  • Highly developed knowledge of Palliative Care and pain/symptom control management.
  • Understanding of audit methodologies and national/regional policies in palliative care.
  • Good understanding of organisational priorities of relevant organisations.
Statutory Registration
  • Registered Nurse (Adult or Child) on part 1 of the NMC register.
  • Valid UK NMC PIN.
Experience
  • Post registration experience in cancer, palliative care or a relevant specialty.
  • Experience of multi professional working and leadership/management.
  • Experience in teaching and delivering education using varied strategies.
  • Experience of audit, research, practice development and service development at a senior level.
  • Understanding of Macmillan Cancer Support and its role across the UK.
Special Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent teaching and presentation skills.
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge in palliative and end of life care underpinned by theory.
  • Ability to interpret evidence and influence professionals to provide high quality care.
  • Ability to lead, plan and support research and audit.
  • Expert knowledge of national and regional policies influencing palliative care services.
  • Excellent communication skills, orally and in writing, at all levels.
  • Organised, capable of prioritising work and meeting deadlines.
