Job overview

The rotational specialty doctor post aims to provide additional medical support to teams at short notice, e.g., in cases of illness or trainee rotation changes, thereby reducing reliance on agency doctors. The post requires flexibility to be moved to different services on short notice.

This role offers a broad range of adult psychiatry experience. Placements typically last 3-6 months; the post is fixed-term for 2 years, providing job security. Placements are geographically limited to reduce travel time. Each post is supervised by a consultant psychiatrist and includes at least one session of SPA time for CPD activities, supervision, teaching, and governance participation. Weekly CPD events are hosted by the Trust and Cambridge University, which candidates are encouraged to attend.

  • Maintain high clinical standards in evidence-based management of patients under supervision.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Teach and train junior staff, medical students, and other disciplines.
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit, and research activities.
