£50 - £60 per hour via an umbrella company

What the role involves

• Handling a varied caseload of legal matters, including commercial contracts, governance, compliance, and intellectual property.
• Advising departments across the university on practical, risk based legal issues.
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and other legal documentation.
• Providing guidance on data protection, employment, and other operational matters.
• Supporting senior management and committees with governance, risk, and compliance questions.
• Working closely with colleagues to provide pragmatic and commercially sensible solutions.
• Maintaining high standards of client service in line with SRA and university expectations.

Who we're looking for

• Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Good commercial awareness and the ability to provide practical solutions to complex issues.
• Experience advising on commercial, governance, or higher education matters is desirable, but not essential.
