Locum Information Governance Solicitor - ASAP Start - Up to £55 per hour umbrella - Initial 6 months+ - South East

Venn Group's specialist Legal team is currently recruiting for a Locum Information Governance Solicitor with a University in the South East. The role will focus on providing expert legal advice on data protection and information governance matters, including Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Subject Access Requests (SARs), Data Processing Agreements, and Data Sharing Agreements, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR and best practice.

Working within a small legal team, the postholder will provide pragmatic, solution-focused, and time-sensitive advice to senior stakeholders, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective risk management across the institution.

The Role

• Position: Locum Information Governance Solicitor
• Duration: Initial 6 months with potential for extension
• Rate: Up to £55 per hour umbrella
• Working Pattern: Full Time, predominantly remote with occasional office attendance

Key Responsibilities

• Providing practical legal advice on Data Protection and Information Governance matters.
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating Data Processing Agreements, Data Sharing Agreements, and related contracts.
• Leading on DPIAs, UK GDPR compliance, and handling complex data protection issues.
• Supporting the University on general governance and regulatory compliance matters.

Ideal Candidate

• Qualified Solicitor with experience in data protection and information governance.
• Confident in advising senior stakeholders, with excellent drafting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to manage a varied caseload and work collaboratively within a small team.
