The locum GProle is an essential member of the clinical team with the Extended AccessService. You will provide high quality clinical care to the patients attendingthe services, dealing with a diverse range of health needs. You will be part ofa team providing a friendly and professional service, in a CQC rated goodorganisation.
The role hasopportunity for personal development as well as support other clinical areaswithin The Confederation as needed.
Main duties of the jobResponsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Surgery and Telephone Consultations
- Administration
- Complying with the Confederation contracts
- Educationand training of junior/trainee clinical staff.

- Provide highquality consultations to patients in Hillingdon managing acute and chronicdisease
- Work with theoperations team and Service Clinical Lead to ensure the provision of highquality care
- Work with theClinical Lead to ensure the clinical safety of the service by provide clinicalupdates/training/incident reviews when appropriate.
- Complete and provide the analysis of clinical audits as requestedby the clinical lead or COD.
- Practise evidence-based medicine, in line with national andlocally agreed guidelines
- Conduct patient consultations during the service clinicalappointment hours
- Undertake telephone and face to face consultations as required,
- Prescribe in line with local and national guidelines
- Refer patients to secondary/urgent care and additionalinterventions as appropriate
- Manage long-term conditions and patients with complex problems
- Promote healthy living strategies and give health and wellbeingadvice, generally encouraging patients to follow a healthy lifestyle
- Carry out patient testing and screening as required
- Make autonomous clinical decisions relating to patients healthneeds
- Use communication that is appropriate to the situation, including:
- Communicating sensitively with patients and carers when deliveringbad news
- Establishing appropriate communication methods to suit patientsand carers level of understanding, cultural/language needs, and preferredcommunication method
- Anticipating and overcoming barriers to communication, seekingsupport from other staff members where necessary
- Use appropriate communication skills and style to make patientsaware of risk, to obtain consent where necessary, and to ensure patients complywith treatment
- Provide services to the practices patient population to thehighest possible standard, in line with competencies and professional code ofconduct
- Monitor and maintain the standard of care provided, takingappropriate action if standards are not met, through self- and peer-review,benchmarking and evaluation
- Undertake clinical governance and clinical audit activities toensure the continual improvement of service delivery
- Participate in reviewing and responding to complaints, significantevents, and other shared learning activities within a structured framework
- Support and mentor staff in training to ensure they deliver thehighest standards of care
- Support the performance of team members and collaborate inimproving the quality of healthcare and service provision, in line with localand national policy and strategy
- Work within the service legal framework for identifying vulnerablepatients and applying policies relating to treatment of vulnerable patients
- Service-related duties
- Process medical reports, referrals and correspondence
- Record and collect data for audit purposes
- Make timely, clear, computer-based records of consultations andcontact with patients
- Maintain administrative records relating to the practice contract,enhanced services and QOF
- Contribute to providing a supportive environment for other staffthrough informal catch-ups and contact
- Attend and contribute to in-house meetings, including clinical,educational/training-related and administrative meetings
- Attend meetings and events held by external agencies andstakeholders
- Contribute to teaching and training clinical staff as appropriate

- Prepare for and complete revalidation process

- Keep up to date with current evidence-based approaches to patientcare and service delivery, in line with NICE and the National Service Framework
- Undertake and contribute to education activities, such asreviewing significant events, clinical audit, protected learning time, videoanalysis of consultations, etc
- Contribute to education and training of trainee clinical staff andstudents
- Work to deliver effective and safe care and liaise with GPpractices, community services, and secondary care to ensure patients have agood and effective experience of services and care.
- Make recommendations and support the development of the serviceand to develop it in terms of quality, efficiency, patient experience, andscale; must including continual quality improvement processes.
- Ensure ongoing good governance and delivery of the servicereporting incidents and being part of clinical audits
- To always act to support and protect the reputation, safety andsustainability of the Confederation.
- To be available to attend internal team meetings as needed
- To be adaptable and flexible to wherever possible cover ad hocduties as they arise and are necessary to be completed.
- To work and apply oneself in the best interests of primary careprovision in Hillingdon.
- To bring the skills, knowledge and experience they have personallyattained and apply them within the clinical operations to the best of theirability and to the interests and duties listed above.

- Extensive experience in urgent care clinical services
- Extensive experience of virtual clinical consultations
- Ability to plan, co-ordinate and deliver programmes of work on time and to a high standard
- Excellent organisational skills with an attention to detail and an ability to finish tasks completely and to a high standard
- Ability to keep full, accurate and up to date records to a high standard
- Ability to assimilate information quickly and make clear and effective decisions under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and listening explaining, promoting, listening, learning, to / at all levels of the healthcare system
- Ability to motivate and engender trust and team identity
- In depth user knowledge of EMIS
- Extensive experience of working in primary care in Hillingdon
- GMC Registration
- Qualified GP
