Locum Consultant with an Specialist interest in Vitreo-Retina

The Ophthalmology Directorate is looking to appoint a full-time Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in VR for 12 months at the earliest opportunity.
The successful candidate will join a team of 18 consultants providing specialist services in VR, Diabetes, Cornea, Medical & Surgical Retina, Ocular Motility, Oculoplastics and Uveitis.
Main duties of the jobWhilst the post will be primarily based at New Cross Hospital, the successful candidate will be required to carry out clinics and theatre sessions at Cannock Chase Hospital or Walsall Manor Hospital.
The department welcomes applications from candidates who are in possession of FRCOphth or equivalent or those who are on the GMC specialist register (or are eligible for registration within 6 months of the interview date with a certificate of completion of specialist training).
About usThe department has two state of the art theatres based at New Cross Hospital and a bespoke, recently refurbished Cataract Theatre at the Cannock Chase Hospital site and is supported by Orthoptists, Hospital-based Optometrists, a fully equipped imaging department and fields machines.
A walk-in Emergency Service, led by Ophthalmic Nurse Specialists, is available within the Ophthalmology Emergency Department at the New Cross Hospital site and is supported by an Eye Referral Unit with booked appointments 'hot-clinics' for urgent cases.

Person Specification Registration and Qualifications- Full Registration and a Licence to practice with the GMC

- Evidence of audit and implementation of change following audit
