Locum Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle

Site: Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford
Contract: Fixed term 6 months (10 PA) Full time 10 sessions per week
Salary: £113,565 - £150,569 per annum (Yearly)

Responsibilities

• Work flexibly within the Foot & Ankle team and participate in the multi disciplinary team to manage patients with complex orthopaedic problems.
• Participate in the on call rota.
• Engage in academic activities and contribute to the evidence base for orthopaedic procedures.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration and licence to practice.
• FRCS (Tr&Orth) or equivalent qualification.
• General training in orthopaedics including foot & ankle.
• 12 months fellowship in foot and ankle.
• Higher medical degree.
• CCT in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery or on GMC Specialist Register in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery or within six months of achieving CCT at time of interview.

Experience

• General training to specialist level in trauma & orthopaedic surgery.
• Evidence of ability to make decisions at consultant level.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multi disciplinary team.

Skills & Knowledge

• Excellent leadership skills and experience leading a clinical team in a teaching hospital.
• Effective administrative and time management skills, training in clinical management, and knowledge of NHS organisation.
• Evidence of significant contribution to successful teamwork within a multidisciplinary team.
• Basic IT skills and experience with electronic patient record and database administration.
• Experience teaching undergraduates and trainees, routine clinical audit, and participation in clinical governance.
• Evidence of involvement in clinical risk management and clinical audit activities.
• Peer reviewed publications and research grant experience.
• Access to transport.
