Job overview Applications are invited for the post of locum Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist with a special interest in Benign Gynaecology. The post holder will be expected to have a specialist registration on GMC and completed one of the Gynecology surgical advanced modules orequivalent involving major abdominal surgery and have experience with the UK cancer pathway, independent running of benign gynecology clinics with fibroid management.

The post holder will also support the endometriosis service. The post will involve participation in the Labour ward on call rota and the postholder should have completed the advanced Labour ward ATSM or equivalent.The successful candidate will join a forward-thinking department committed to excellence in women's healthcare. Detailed job description and main responsibilities We are looking for a candidate who can integrate well into the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department. The candidate should have a strong interest in Gynaecology / Benign Gynaecology and be able to run rapid access clinics and operate independently but we accept there may be a need for initial surgical support. It is expected that the candidate will attend MDT meetings and contribute to the management of more complex patients. The candidate will also be expected to run general gynaecology and endometriosis service.

The candidate will also be expected to participate in the Labour ward Rota and their on-call is expected to cover both Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The Rota is currently on a 1:16 weekend rotation.

The appointee will also be expected to play a lead role in undergraduate teaching. Person specification Professional Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration
  • Relevant CCT or equivalent equivalence must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of GMC .
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of AAC
  • Advanced Training in Labour ward Practice
  • • ATSM one of the Gynecology surgical advanced modules or equivalent involving major abdominal surgery and have experience with the UK cancer pathway including independent running of rapid access clinics and multidisciplinary working to deliver the Trusts cancer targets.
  • ATSM in Hysteroscopy And/or Colposcopy accreditation
Clinical Experience
  • Clinical Training and experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology equivalent to that required of a UK CCST.
  • Excellent clinical skills and experience

  • Excellent practical skills in the full range of Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • Basic ultrasound skills and ability to perform growth scan independently
