An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Consultant Obstetric Physician to join the North Central London (NCL) multi-disciplinary Maternal Medicine Team on a maternity leave cover basis.
The successful post holder will be based at one of the maternity hospitals within the NCL Maternal Medicine Network: Barnet Hospital.

Main duties of the jobAs a Consultant in Obstetric Medicine within the network, you will provide specialist care for pregnant women with complex medical conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings at Barnet Hospital. This includes participation in multi disciplinary antenatal and postnatal clinics, acute consults for pregnant/recently pregnant women with medical problems, and management of maternal medicine inpatients.
You will work closely with colleagues across the NCL network, liaising and coordinating patient care, attending and contributing to NCL multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, and supporting the ongoing development of the Maternal Medicine Network.
In addition, the post holder will play a key role in coordinating advice, education, and support for physicians, obstetricians, general practitioners, and other healthcare professionals across the network.

The post holder will work in partnership with the NCL multi disciplinary maternal medicine team and will coordinate a mechanism to provide advice and education to physicians, obstetricians, general practitioners, and other health care professionals throughout the maternal medicine network.
Person Specification Qualifications- Full GMC registration
- CCT or equivalent in a medical speciality
- Undergone specific training in Obstetric Medicine within an established Obstetric medicine service
- Fellow or Member of Royal College of Physicians (RCP)
- Currently working as a Consultant Physician at Barnet General Hospital
- RCP credential in Obstetric medicine (pre or post CCT)
- In depth additional expert knowledge acquired over a significant period in Maternal Medicine
- Membership and regular attendance at regional and national conferences in maternal medicine/obstetric medicine including BMFMS and UK MacDonald Obstetric Medicine Society (MOMS)
- Significant evidence of continued professional development in the field of maternal medicine
- Subject matter expertise across several key areas relating to Maternal Medicine, with evidence of national recognition of their expertise
- Proven and significant leadership experience and/or formal management qualification
- Experience of successfully operating in and delivering priorities in a partnership environment
- Clinical Supervisor for Obstetric Medicine Advanced Training Speciality Module (ATSM) with track record of trainees successfully completing ATSM
- Evidence of training physicians in obstetric medicine
- Evidence of developing regional or national courses in maternal medicine
- Evidence of academic output in the field of maternal medicine
- Evidence of involvement with maternal death panels or MBRRACE confidential enquiry into maternal deaths
- Ability to deal with challenging situations in a formal setting, including working with Trust Medical Directors
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to stakeholders
- Experience of delivering presentations to large groups of stakeholders
- Ability to analyse highly complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources (verbal, written and numerical)
