Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine - North Yorkshire

Client Name: York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Role: Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine

Rates: £100 - £125 per hour (PAYE)

Shifts: 09:00am - 17:00pm, Monday to Friday

Location: York Hospital

As a locum respiratory medicine consultant, your expertise will support patient care across both acute respiratory and general medicine, especially for complex cases involving multiple symptoms and conditions. You will work flexible shifts at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, providing diagnostic and acute care, and supporting junior doctors and trainees.

The Trust offers access to advanced medical equipment and opportunities for research and academic development. Your role will involve developing and expanding hospital services, working alongside a team of dedicated consultants to improve patient care, flow, and capacity.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Support patients and families by communicating diagnoses and treatment options clearly.
  • Coordinate and prescribe treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and communicate with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Lead or participate in multidisciplinary teams as appropriate.
  • Assess patient needs, delegate tasks, and recognize changes in patient conditions.
  • Maintain accurate records, write prescriptions, and monitor treatments.
  • Participate in research and help train junior doctors and medical students.

Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications

  • GMC registered Doctor (not necessarily on the Specialist Register).
  • Relevant experience at Consultant level or supporting references.
  • Evidence of legal Right to Work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).
  • Pass an enhanced DBS check.
