Job Description
Locum Consultant in Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a one year-fixed term locum Consultant in Urogynaecology (9 PAs).

The closing date is 11 May 2026.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual with experience of Urogynaecology who wishes to join our well-established and dedicated multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will play a key role in delivering a responsive and patient-centered care, supporting patients throughout their treatment journey while maintaining consistently high standards of care and patient experience.

Please note that the job plan included is subject to change depending on theatre and clinic space availability. The role will include Saturday operating.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver consultant-led outpatient care in Urogynaecology clinics
  • Deliver consultant-led surgical lists for Urogynaecology patients
  • Provide assessment and outpatient management of patients with Urogynaecological conditions
  • Support clinical decision-making, care planning, and appropriate follow-up for patients
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, contributing to MDT discussions
  • Contribute to teaching, training, and supervision of resident doctors
  • Engage in service governance and clinical audit activities
  • Represent the department in internal and external meetings, contributing to service development, clinical guidelines, and best practice
  • Work collaboratively across UCLH and WMS sites

The Womens Health Division within the Specialist Hospitals Board consists of Breast Care Services, Gynae-Oncology and Colposcopy service, Uro-Gynaecology clinic, Reproductive Medicine Unit, Emergency & General Gynaecology and inpatients across Maternity, Gynaecology and Neonatology. These highly specialist areas offer a wide variety of experience and an opportunity to work within diverse professional groups.

The Womens Health outpatient services are primarily located on the lower ground floor of the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson (EGA) Building. The service operates as a district hospital for local cases and as a specialist referral centre for a much wider area, including tertiary referrals from other centres in the UK.

The department provides a range of specialist services and hosts sub-specialty training programmes for reproductive medicine, fetal medicine, gynae-oncology and urogynaecology. It is the designated cancer centre for gynae-oncology and runs urogynaecology, general gynaecology, endometriosis, reproductive medicine, and paediatric gynaecology services.

Person Specification Professional Qualifications
  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
  • Relevant CCT or equivalent equivalence must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of GMC .
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of AAC.
  • RCOG ATSM in Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology
  • MFSRH
  • RCOG ATSM in benign abdominal gynaecology surgery (open/laparoscopic)
Professional Qualifications Clinical Experience
  • Clinical Training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to that required of a UK CCST
  • Substantial clinical experience in paediatric and adolescent gynaecology including management of adolescent and adults with complex congenital conditions such as Differences of Sex Development (DSD/intersex) and complex Müllerian anomalies.
  • Experience in assessment and clinical examination of children with Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) or suspected FGM.
  • Experience in medical and surgical management of complex PAG cases including complex vaginal septae and vaginal reconstruction.
Clinical Skills
  • Excellent skills in management of complex congenital gynaecological conditions including DSD/intersex.
  • Surgical expertise in vaginal reconstruction for Mullerian anomalies and DSD.
  • Broad range of operating skills in PAG including vaginoscopy, vaginal and clitoral reconstruction, complex vaginal septae.
  • Surgical treatment of FGM in under 16s e.g. deinfibulation, clitoral retention cysts.
Clinical Knowledge
  • Good knowledge of the aetiology, diagnosis and management of common and complex PAG conditions.
Audit, Quality Improvement, Management & IT
  • Leadership skills to take forward service developments
  • Good organisational and management skills.
  • Ability to act within the clinical Governance framework of the NHS.
