Pay: £100 to £125 per hour (PAYE)

Contract Type: Contract

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday shifts 08:30am - 17:00pm

Location: Glangwili General Hospital (Carmarthen, Wales)

About this job

As a Locum Consultant in Ophthalmology with Hywel Dda University Health Board, you will rely on your superior surgical skills, dexterity, and coordination to treat a diverse range of disorders, improving or in some cases fully restoring a patient's sight. You will be on the specialist register and able to undertake operations for globe rupture, penetrating eye injuries, endophthalmitis, etc, providing full cover for eye care emergencies.

Responsibilities
  • Provide routine care, diagnosing and treating eye diseases and injuries, and performing corrective surgeries.
  • Manage emergency and specialist eye treatment clinics.
  • Liaise with medical and non-medical staff to ensure quality treatment.
  • Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information clearly.
  • Work in and where appropriate, lead a multidisciplinary team, assess and prioritise patient/client requirements, and delegate effectively to others.
  • Recognise, review, and report a patient's condition and any changes to the patient and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Perform basic administrative and clerical tasks.
Qualifications / Licences / Certifications
  • Be a GMC registered Doctor. (Specialist Register is not mandatory for this role).
  • Have relevant experience at Consultant level, or references to support transition up to Consultant level.
  • Holder of right to work in the UK; no visa sponsorship.
  • Pass enhanced background check (DBS).
