Salary: £113,565 - £150,569 per year
Contract: 12 months Locum
Hours: Full-time - 10 sessions per week (in accordance with job plan)

Overview

The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest teaching trusts in the country. This post provides a comprehensive Haematological Histopathology service, including performing or supervising cut ups, microscopy, and other diagnostic techniques, reporting cases, and supporting clinical meetings and case discussions. A willingness to adopt new diagnostic techniques and undertake training where necessary is essential.

Main duties
  • Provide haematological pathology services across the Trust, including the use of digital pathology where applicable.
  • Perform or supervise cut ups, microscopy, and other diagnostic techniques.
  • Report complex haematological cases accurately and timely.
  • Support clinical meetings and case discussions.
  • Provide support in alternative specialty pathology where appropriate.
  • Participate in training and development activities.
Qualifications / Training
  • FRCPath or equivalent.
  • UK trained candidates must also have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Non UK trained candidates must show evidence of equivalence to UK CCT.
  • Full and specialist registration with the GMC (or eligibility to register within six months of interview).
  • Specialist training in haematological pathology.
  • Specialist training in other pathology (preferred).
Experience & Skills
  • Independent reporting of complex haematological cases.
  • Evidence of consultant level decision making and management of complex clinical problems.
  • Leadership experience and ability to support others.
  • Effective administrative and time management skills.
  • Willingness to engage in NHS pathology management roles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in teaching, training, and clinical governance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Good spoken and written English.
  • Peer reviewed publications and research grants (preferred).
