Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant Anesthesiologist to join their multidisciplinary team in delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of anesthesia, perioperative medicine, critical care, and pain management services within a leading public healthcare environment

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultant-led anesthesia services across a broad range of surgical specialties.

  • Deliver comprehensive perioperative care, including preoperative assessment and postoperative management.

  • Participate in on-call and emergency anesthesia services.

  • Contribute to critical care, trauma, and resuscitation services as required.

  • Support the development and implementation of clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.

  • Engage in teaching, training, and supervision of Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors (NCHDs), medical students, and allied healthcare professionals.

  • Participate in departmental audits, research activities, and service development projects.

  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.


Essential Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be registered as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland in the specialty of Anesthesiology, or be eligible for registration.

  • Possess appropriate postgraduate qualifications in Anesthesiology recognized in Ireland.

  • Demonstrate substantial experience in consultant-level anesthesia practice.

  • Have excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Be committed to clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous professional development.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Fellowship or advanced training in a subspecialty area such as critical care medicine, pain medicine, cardiac anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, or regional anesthesia.

  • Experience in service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement.

  • Evidence of research, teaching, or academic involvement.
