The successful candidate will support the current establishment of NHS and academic staff contributing to the on-call rota, and providing senior anaesthetic cover for elective, emergency and trauma surgery

There are opportunities for the successful candidate to deliver clinical care on emergency and trauma lists and gain further experience and expertise in a variety of specialities, including general surgery, ENT, and Ophthalmology.

Main duties of the job

The post is for a Locum Consultant Anaesthetist with a specialist interest in peri-operative medicine. The post holder will provide high quality care for patients within the anaesthetic Department and provide perioperative care for elective and emergency patients across the range of specialities available within Hywel Dda UHB. The candidate will join a team of consultants with an interest in peri-operative medicine, doing High Risk pre-assessment, CPET clinics and assisting with our Pre-habilitation service.

• Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
• Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
• Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
• 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
• Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
