Locum Consultant - Paediatric and Adolescent Trauma and Orthopaedics

Locum Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery Specialising in Trauma with paediatric trauma, adolescent and adult soft tissue knee reconstruction.

Applications are invited for a Full Time Locum Consultant in Orthopaedics, for Trauma with paediatric trauma, adolescent and adult soft tissue knee reconstruction, based at Northwick Park Hospital and would be required to work across the Central Middlesex and Ealing Hospitals.

We are looking for individuals that share our passion for excellence and want to join our team. It is essential that the successful applicant has experience in paediatric trauma, adolescent and adult soft tissue knee reconstruction. The role will include elective and trauma operating, fracture clinics and elective clinics. It is hoped that the applicant can be appointed as soon as practicable.

The Consultants are supported by Registrars, Trust Grade doctors, and junior doctors at FY1/FY2/CT1 level.

It is essential that the applicant has passed the FRCS in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery or equivalent.

Main duties of the job

Balanced activities between trauma and elective commitments based on service demands, to be reviewed prior to start date. Activities include operation lists (both elective and trauma), regular ward rounds, outpatient clinics (both elective and trauma), monthly mortality & morbidity statistics presentations, departmental teaching meetings, supervision and training of middle grade, and participation in management duties within the department and the Trust.

This is an exciting role where the post holder will help in developing a paediatric trauma service at Northwick Park Hospital and will work with local colleagues to collaborate on elective paediatric services in the region.

Job responsibilities

Locum Consultant post to support the current Orthopaedic service in paediatric trauma and adolescent & adult soft tissue knee reconstruction. The post holder will be expected to work across the Trust on the Northwick Park, Central Middlesex and Ealing Hospital sites.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • FRCS or appropriate higher orthopaedic surgical qualification
  • GMC Register with a licence to practice
  • NHS experience within the last 3 years
  • GMC Trauma & Orthopaedic Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT/CESR
Management
  • Understanding of clinical governance principles and their implications
Knowledge
  • Experience and surgical expertise in Orthopaedic surgery
  • Leadership skills and ability to motivate and develop the multidisciplinary team
