About the role

The Locum Business Manager (internally known as Locum Agency Manager) leads people and strives for high-performing teams. Responsibilities include developing and training team members, recruiting, motivating, and making autonomous decisions. You will be part of the Scotland Regional Leadership team.

You will support our agency partners to ensure seamless service for our customers, working with different teams and offices. Our Scottish agencies vary in size from £5m to over £20m in gross written premium income, with self-employed leaders. This role offers a unique chance to develop leadership skills in a dynamic, sometimes pressurised environment requiring resilience, calm, and creativity.

When not in the field, you may work from home. We offer flexibility to maintain a healthy work-life balance. The role primarily supports agency partners in North or South Scotland, with occasional involvement in other locations.

This role complies with the Insurance Distribution Directive, requiring ongoing Continuous Professional Development and regular re-screening to demonstrate good repute, as detailed in the FCA Handbook.

About you

You should have experience in the insurance sector, ideally with NFUM product knowledge and licensing, though wider insurance knowledge is also acceptable. Flexibility for travel is necessary. Key skills include:

  • Face-to-face sales and customer service experience
  • Operational management skills
  • Resilience and autonomous working
  • Strong decision-making skills under pressure
