Job Title: Local Taxation Officer Ref: JD 000A 3984 / 1 Pay rate: £19.16 per hour PAYE Working Arrangement: Hybrid - remote with some attendance at Oxford Town Hall
RoleOur client is seeking a Local Taxation Officer to join a busy Financial Services team. This hybrid role involves administering Council Tax and Business Rates accounts, responding to enquiries, and ensuring accurate billing and collection in line with legislation. You'll play a key role in supporting residents and businesses, identifying applicable discounts and reliefs, and maintaining up-to-date records to meet income targets.
Responsibilities- Maintain and update Council Tax and Business Rates records
- Handle customer queries via phone, email, and in person
- Apply discounts, exemptions, and reliefs correctly
- Cross-check data across systems to ensure accuracy
- Support recovery processes and assist with reporting
- Experience in finance, tax, or debt recovery
- Knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates processes
- Proficiency in MS 365 and database systems
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to interpret regulations and work independently
- Role length: 3 months
- Job type: Temporary
- Hours: 37 hours per week Monday-Friday
