Cardiff is growing faster than any other capital city in Europe, and we have exciting opportunities to join our Street Scene Services, in the delivery of frontline waste operations providing a high standard of service to the businesses of Cardiff.
About the jobAs a loader within the Domestic Team, you will be responsible for collecting waste and recycling materials throughout Cardiff. You will be physically fit, and able to follow instructions given by your driver throughout the working day.
Please Note - This post is full time with operational hours 6.00am-3.45pm Tuesday to Friday. You are contracted to work Good Friday. Where Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's day fall on a contracted working day, subsequent catch up days, which may include weekend working, will be a mandatory requirement. Where any Bank Holiday fall on a working day this will also be a mandatory requirement.
What We Are Looking For From YouThe successful candidate will have experience of working within a large operational team and direct public contact with excellent customer service skills. You will have experience of manual handling operations as well as working outdoors in all weather conditions. Experience of following Health & Safety guidance is essential for this role.
You will be able to quickly adapt to technologies used by the service. You will need to understand and operate in line with Council Policies and Procedures. You must maintain the reputation of the Council by adopting a professional and courteous approach.
