This is an exceptional opportunity for you to further your career within a firm that values collaboration, professionalism, and client care above all else. The organisation is renowned for its approachable culture, where every team member is encouraged to share knowledge, support one another, and contribute to the ongoing success of the department.

You will benefit from exposure to a diverse range of civil and commercial litigation matters, ensuring your work remains both interesting and challenging. With a strong commitment to professional development and progression, this firm offers you the chance to grow your expertise while enjoying a positive work-life balance in an environment free from unnecessary formality.

What you'll do:

  • Provide clear, pragmatic, and commercially focused legal advice to clients on a wide range of civil and commercial litigation matters, ensuring their needs are met with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Manage your own caseload from initial instruction through to resolution, including drafting pleadings, witness statements, correspondence, and other key documents required throughout the litigation process.
  • Represent clients effectively in court proceedings as well as during settlement negotiations, mediation sessions, and alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Maintain accurate time recording and billing practices in line with firm procedures to ensure transparency and efficiency in all client dealings.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality and security of all client information as well as sensitive firm data at every stage of the case lifecycle.
  • Regularly update clients on the progress of their cases, managing expectations with empathy while providing reassurance during complex or stressful situations.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across departments, clients from diverse backgrounds, and external organisations such as barristers or expert witnesses.
  • Support and mentor junior staff members or paralegals by sharing knowledge, offering guidance on best practices, and fostering a spirit of teamwork within the department.
  • Meet agreed chargeable hours targets while contributing positively to the overall billing objectives of the team through diligent case management.
  • Actively participate in business development initiatives aimed at growing the department's profile within the local community and wider legal market.

What you bring:

  • A minimum of one years' post-qualification experience as a solicitor specialising in civil or commercial litigation within a reputable law firm setting.
  • Demonstrable advocacy skills with experience representing clients before courts or tribunals as well as during negotiation or mediation processes.
  • Excellent drafting abilities covering pleadings, witness statements, correspondence with opposing parties or clients, and other essential legal documentation.
  • Outstanding communication skills-both written and verbal-with an emphasis on clarity, empathy, and responsiveness when dealing with clients from all walks of life.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving combined with meticulous attention to detail when managing multiple competing priorities under pressure.
  • A friendly yet professional manner that fosters trust among clients while contributing positively to an inclusive team culture built on mutual respect.
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive client information alongside full compliance with regulatory requirements governing legal practice.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues by sharing knowledge generously and encouraging collaborative learning within the department.
  • A genuine interest in keeping up-to-date with developments in litigation practice areas as well as relevant changes in legislation or case law affecting your work.
  • Willingness to engage actively in business development activities designed to enhance both personal networks and departmental growth.
