About the Role

Avencia Talent Solutions are proud to partner with The Lloyd's Market Association (LMA). The LMA is offering an exciting Training Contract opportunity within its 2026 Legal Trainee Wordings Scheme for an aspiring solicitor interested in building a career in the Lloyd's insurance market.

This two-year structured training programme provides hands-on experience within the Legal and Regulatory team, allowing you to develop specialist knowledge of insurance law, contracts and market wordings.

During the scheme you will contribute to meaningful work that benefits the Lloyd's market as a whole, while gaining exposure to underwriting, regulatory and claims issues affecting the global insurance industry. You will also undertake placements with Lloyd's insurers and a law firm, providing a broad perspective of the market.

Upon successful completion of the scheme, you will qualify as a solicitor, equipped with a strong foundation in insurance law and the Lloyd's marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

During the programme you will:

  • Support the day-to-day work of the Legal and Regulatory team

  • Assist with running LMA committees and gain exposure to underwriting, regulatory and claims matters

  • Provide legal input on insurance wordings and clauses across marine and non-marine committees

  • Assist with reviewing contracts and addressing legal queries

  • Conduct legal and regulatory horizon scanning across global markets

  • Help prepare responses to regulatory consultations (e.g. FCA and PRA)

  • Provide regulatory and legal updates to LMA members

  • Liaise with industry organisations such as the ABI and IUA

  • Complete placements with managing agents, law firms or the Lloyd's Corporation

  • Respond to queries from LMA members

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications
  • Excellent academic record

  • Minimum 2:1 degree

  • LPC completed or full SQE (Parts 1 & 2) passed

Skills & Attributes
  • Ability to quickly analyse complex information and identify key issues

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Ambitious, curious and proactive mindset

Experience
  • No prior experience required

  • Legal or insurance internships/work experience are beneficial but not essential
