EligibilityThe role of Legal Counsel at AbbVie requires an accomplished professional with a solid academic foundation and substantial legal expertise. Candidates must hold a law degree from a well-regarded university and bring at least 10 years of post-qualification experience. Ideally, applicants will have gained exposure both in reputable law firms and as in-house counsel within multinational corporations. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and knowledge of regulatory frameworks specific to healthcare is highly preferred. Additional familiarity with areas such as antitrust and competition law, compliance, anti-bribery regulations, data protection, and intellectual property will be advantageous. Applicants must demonstrate fluency in English, strong legal drafting skills, and the ability to handle complex legal documents with precision while managing competing priorities effectively.
RoleThe Legal Counsel will serve as a key strategic partner to AbbVie's pharmaceutical business in India and the wider India region, with some responsibilities extending across Asia. This role involves providing expert legal support, advising senior management, and actively participating in strategic decision-making. The counsel will draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of commercial agreements, including vendor, manufacturing, distribution, supply, and marketing contracts. The role also encompasses dispute management, litigation oversight, and regulatory compliance, ensuring that AbbVie operates within legal frameworks while achieving its business objectives. As a member of the India Affiliate Management Team, the candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping business strategies, developing legal frameworks, and supporting cross-functional teams. This position offers the opportunity to influence business outcomes at both national and regional levels.
