Legal Counsel Crypto

Join the Legal Counsel Crypto role at IMC Trading in Amsterdam.

We are looking for a legal counsel with 3-5 years of experience in cryptocurrency regulation and commercial agreements. In this role you will review and negotiate cryptocurrency market maker and related agreements, draft internal policies, prepare registration applications, and review proposed investments in digital assets. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in digital assets and possess expertise in commercial law.

Core Responsibilities

• Advise on international regulations governing cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and digital assets, including European regulations.
• Draft and negotiate agreements involving token market making, partnerships, and digital asset transactions.
• Support the organization's compliance efforts, including AML/KYC, due diligence, and licensing requirements.
• Monitor legislative and policy developments in crypto regulation and provide proactive legal strategies.

Risk Management

• Identify potential legal risks and propose solutions.
• Support global licensing applications across multiple jurisdictions.
• Advise senior business, finance, and compliance leads on commercial, legal, and regulatory risks.
• Collaborate with team members (legal, compliance, finance) across regions to mitigate risks.

Professional Experience & Skills

• 3-5 years of relevant legal experience at a law firm and/or in house counsel, focused on regulatory & compliance in crypto (MiCAR, other EU regulations).
• Corporate & transactional drafting, contract review, and negotiation.
• Knowledge of US regulations is a plus.
• Strong grasp of blockchain technology, algorithmic trading, and liquidity provision.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with contract lifecycle management systems.
• Willingness to work outside standard hours if required.
• Strong interest in crypto, cross functional or cross regional experience.
• Fluency in Dutch and English.
• Academic Law degree.
