We are currently looking for a Legal Counsel to join our highly regarded Group Legal Team on a permanent basis in London. This role will support Royal London's Asset Management business by providing strategic legal advice, guidance, and support.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team where you will undertake a range of legal activities, supporting the Asset Management division and building key relationships across Royal London Group. You will work alongside experienced legal professionals who promote development and continuous learning.

About the role

• Provide proactive strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders on asset management activities, including portfolio management, distribution, rebate arrangements, non-disclosure agreements, fund documentation, and trading arrangements.
• Draft, review, and negotiate various documents supporting RLAM, such as investment management agreements, distribution agreements, fund documentation, and outsourcing agreements.
• Interpret and advise on laws and regulations impacting RLAM, including MiFID II, UCITS V, AIFMD, and AIFMD II.
• Lead legal aspects of projects, product development, and fund launches.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate legal risks, offering pragmatic solutions.
• Collaborate on cross-organizational projects, strategic initiatives, and regulatory compliance within the Group Legal team.
• Work with external legal counsel as needed, ensuring cost-effective and strategic legal support.
• Partner with the business on legal matters within the Asset Management division.

About you

• A collaborative, pragmatic asset management solicitor with proven experience in the sector, either in a law firm or in-house.
• Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory issues affecting investment management.
• Proactive, accountable, and capable of delivering commercial solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of corporate governance and FCA/PRA regulations' impact on the group.
• Excellent communication skills, able to engage stakeholders at all levels.
