Munich Re, through its primary insurance entity Great Lakes Insurance SE, Irish Branch (GLIR), is a leader in providing credit risk transfer solutions to financial institutions. A key focus of our business is delivering regulatory capital relief solutions to financial institutions. To support our growth ambitions in this area, we are seeking experts with a credit background from diverse fields such as finance, law, mathematics, and actuarial science.
About the roleFor this specific position, we are looking for an experienced lawyer based in Dublin who can assist GLIR with all legal tasks related to the branch and its business activities. The ideal candidate will be eager to develop as a transaction lawyer in credit securitizations, banking, and/or insurance.
Key Responsibilities- Act as an advisor on legal and regulatory matters affecting GLIR, with a focus on governance, licensing, global credit insurance distribution, and underwriting.
- Manage a broad range of legal tasks, including commercial and affiliate contracts, NDAs, horizon scanning, and coordination of KYC processes.
- Support credit business activities by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating risk transfer documentation, ensuring adherence to all relevant conduct and regulatory standards, including internal underwriting standards and guidelines, and developing new template contracts.
- Liaise with and manage external counsel and advisory firms, as well as internal specialists, to ensure comprehensive legal, regulatory, tax, and accounting sign-off for transactions and projects.
- Support the creation and refinement of insurance-based risk transfer solutions for individual credit risks and broader portfolio structures.

- Fluent spoken and written business/legal English.
- University law degree.
- Qualified lawyer in a relevant jurisdiction (EU or Common Law).
- Experience working as an associate in a law firm and/or as in-house counsel in the financial sector
