What does this mean for a lawyer at Aptos You will have an excellent opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with senior legal leadership in a high-growth technology company, and will also be exposed to cutting-edge retail technology and innovation projects involving privacy and AI elements.You will also be expected to partner with various stakeholders across HR, Marketing, Product Operations, IT and Facilities and Sales across our offices in the US, UK, India and Canada in a fast-paced environment, to derisk decision making, provide high quality legal advice and solve problems.There will be learning and growth opportunities as you work with stakeholders and vendors, across different geographies and cultures, helping you to gain valuable cross-border legal experience. The role day to day This role will report to the Head of Legal and Privacy, EMEA and APAC, based in London and will be required to attend the office in person at least three times a week.You will be expected to: Be the triage point for vendor contracts entered into by Aptos/Revionics globally. Manage, negotiate and review vendor agreements with technology providers (mainly US based), navigate cross-border commercial terms, regulatory differences, and international contract structures. Draft and negotiate data processing, security and confidentiality agreements. Assist with various parts of the Aptos Privacy Program, such as managing our record of processing activities (ROPA), sub-processor lists and privacy assessments (legitimate interest, data protection impact assessments etc). Draft and review customer facing SaaS agreements, professional services agreements and partnership agreements. Review marketing agreements and providing advice to ensure legal and regulatory compliance. Technical skills and experience : At least 3 years post-qualification experience as a solicitor with a current practising certificate. Strong technology contracts expertise including SaaS agreements, software licensing and complex commercial arrangements. Demonstrated ability to negotiate and draft data processing agreements, experience on wider GDPR and data privacy issues with practical application in technology environments, is a plus. In-house legal experience preferred, or significant technology sector exposure within a law firm environment. Excellent commercial awareness and ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice. Outstanding communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to diverse stakeholders and simplify complex legal matters as necessary. Comfortable working and coordinating with US-based vendors and legal team members. Characteristics and attributes: Innate sense of curiosity. You need to be willing to spend time to stay up to date on the latest developments in your legal field and to stay knowledgeable about the business, which in turn, will make you a better-rounded lawyer.
