Job DescriptionThe Legal counsel position will hold the following responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the development of several projects
- Manage projects from pre-application through to completion
- Advising on acquisitions, consenting and engagement strategies, environmental impact assessments habitats regulations and DCO implementation
- Work with the wider project team for the submission of Development Consent Orders
- Respond to requests under the Freedom of Information Act
- Provide comprehensive legal advice to internal stakeholders on a variety of matters
- Work with the team to manage and mitigate risks
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies
- Support projects and transactions by providing timely and accurate legal input
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory developments
A successful Legal Counsel should have:
- Qualified solicitor status or equivalent legal qualification
- 3 years+ of relevant post qualification experience
- Prior experience and understanding of Development Consent Orders is essential
- A strong understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to the industry
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a practical and solutions-focused approach
- Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong communication skills to liaise confidently with stakeholders at all levels
