A day in the life of a Legal Counsel
At Lloyds Bank, our Legal Counsels are trusted advisors, strategic thinkers, and collaborative partners. Here's what a typical day might look like:
Start the Day with Purpose
You begin your morning reviewing legal updates and regulatory developments from the AFM, DNB, and ECB. A quick check of your inbox reveals a few contract review requests and a meeting invite for a new product launch.
Legal Advisory in Action
You join a call with the Product and Risk teams to assess the legal implications of a new mortgage feature. You provide clear, practical advice on how to align with Dutch and EU regulations while supporting innovation.
Contracts & Collaboration
You review and negotiate a supplier agreement, ensuring it meets internal standards and regulatory expectations. You liaise with external counsel for a second opinion on a complex clause.
Lunch & Knowledge Sharing
Over lunch, you catch up with colleagues and join a short internal session on recent regulatory trends. It's a great way to stay connected and continuously learn.
Policy & Process
You work on translating a new Group Policy into a local procedure, collaborating with Compliance and Operations to ensure it's practical and effective. You also update the local Compliance Plan with recent developments.
Stakeholder Engagement
You prepare a briefing for senior management on a regulatory change and its impact on the business. Later, you join a cross-functional project meeting to ensure legal risks are identified early and managed proactively.
