Job Description
  • Provide legal advice on Development Consent Orders (DCO) and associated regulatory frameworks.
  • Work closely with the SRO portfolio, particularly the Senior Legal Counsel and the Engagement, Land and Consents SRO team, to ensure the DCO applications are legally robust and defendable.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal agreements and contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements related to the energy and natural resources sector.
  • Manage external legal counsel and coordinate their input on complex projects.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with infrastructure development projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with legal and business objectives.
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes and advise on their potential impact.
  • Support the legal department in delivering strategic initiatives and policy development.
The Successful Applicant

A successful Legal Counsel - DCO should have:

  • A UK/IRE qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years PQE.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of Development Consent Orders (DCO) and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in the energy and natural resources industry or related sectors.
  • Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex legal documents.
  • Excellent understanding of regulatory compliance and statutory requirements.
  • Ability to manage external counsel effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
