Job Description

Lead RF Engineer role in Cork taking ownership of advanced microwave and millimetre-wave design within a cutting-edge R&D environment!

A leading engineering company specialising in advanced RF and millimetre-wave technologies is looking to hire a Lead RF Engineer to join its R&D team in Cork, Ireland.

The Lead RF Engineer will play a key role in the design and development of high-performance RF and mmWave components and subsystems used in demanding applications including communications, radar, remote sensing and test and measurement systems.

This role would suit a Lead RF Engineer who enjoys both hands on RF design work and providing technical leadership within a collaborative engineering environment.

The Lead RF Engineer will take ownership of RF design activities across the full development lifecycle, from early concept through design, simulation, testing and validation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design, analysis and testing of RF, microwave and millimetre-wave components and subsystems
  • Providing technical leadership on RF architecture and design decisions
  • Performing EM modelling and system simulations using tools such as HFSS, ADS, CST or AWR
  • Defining RF test methodologies and supporting validation activities
  • Acting as a technical interface with customers, partners and internal stakeholders
  • Supporting project delivery by defining technical milestones and priorities
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers within the team
  • Contributing to future product development and technology strategy
Skills & Experience
  • MSc or PhD in Electronics, Physics or a related discipline
  • Strong experience designing RF, microwave or millimetre-wave components and systems
  • Expertise using EM simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, CST or AWR
  • Strong understanding of RF measurement techniques and laboratory equipment
  • Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring engineers
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
