DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Technology department is charged with establishing, monitoring, and maintaining information technology systems and services to enable business users to carry out their roles efficiently, productively and securely.

The department must stay at the forefront of technology change in order to meet multiple business requirements, provide secure IT infrastructure and proactively support C4 strategic growth opportunities.

JOB PURPOSE

This role is to manage strategic and transformation projects within Technology that are vital to Channel 4.

The job holder will lead and manage a team of delivery, support, functional and technical professionals (both on and off-shore) and be the main point of engagement to implement projects to meet business requirements.

The projects will involve development across multiple cross-functional systems (in-house and external) and require interfacing with third parties; experience delivering large (£3m+) and complex development projects spanning multiple teams and business areas is essential.

The role also involves working cooperatively and consultatively with key senior business stakeholders, managing scope, prioritisation, budget, timelines, communications, and resources.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Project Planning: lead multi-phased, multi-party projects, planning efforts, including design with architects, build and test efforts, and integration with legacy and ongoing system projects.
  2. Project Control: develop plans for controlling project scope, schedule, and costs; monitor execution; approve documentation for changes; oversee change control logs; ensure delivery within governance frameworks.
  3. Project Communications & Stakeholder Management: work with the IT Programme Manager to communicate project info; resolve issues; report status to stakeholders.
  4. Project Risk and Issue Management: define risks, develop mitigation strategies, monitor activities, and advise on actions; reallocate resources as needed.
  5. Resource Management: manage teams of architects, analysts, specialists, and leads; ensure performance and development.
  6. Budgetary & Cost Control: maintain transparent cost control and provide forecasts.
  7. System Development Lifecycle: manage end-to-end lifecycle from inception to live system, including user support in production.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • Proven project manager with experience in managing multiple small to medium complex projects.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
  • Experience managing teams and outsourced development.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and take accountability.
  • Excellent communication, understanding of technology lifecycle, supplier management, and legal/procurement processes.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies (PRINCE2, Agile, SCRUM, KANBAN).
  • Quick learner of applications and business functions.
  • Successful track record under demanding conditions.
  • Strong collaboration, presentation, numeracy, and negotiation skills.
  • Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • Media/broadcast industry knowledge.
  • Understanding of advertising, CRM projects, Addressable Linear Advertising (ALA), creative and marketing applications.

Basic salary from £67,813.00 per annum.
