OpenAge Initiative is a public interest effort to reimagine how age is established online: protecting digital youth from unwanted harms without compromising the privacy and freedom of adults.

At the core of OpenAge is AgeKey, a reusable, passkey-based age credential that enables age checks without identity disclosure. This privacy-preserving, user-centric approach has earned unusually broad support from leading social platforms, privacy advocates, and organizations that have historically opposed age-assurance mandates altogether.

OpenAge operates as a neutral, interoperable layer rather than a closed system. We bring together a diverse and growing set of partners including verification and identity providers such as Socure, Persona, Incode, and Veratad. Over 5 million verifications have been completed during our beta phase.

We are a small, senior team building foundational digital infrastructure with global impact. We believe safety, privacy, and usability are not trade-offs but design requirements.

OpenAge is incubated within k-ID, the global leader in privacy-first compliance and age verification infrastructure. Recognized as one of TIME's Best Inventions and named a Tech Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, k-ID is building the Age Layer for the internet. OpenAge is a division of k-ID, operating with independent governance and an advisory board that ensures transparency, vendor neutrality, and accountability.

Billions of age checks happen every year, and nearly all of them force users to choose between privacy and access. We are looking for a Senior Product Lead to end that trade-off by owning AgeKeys, our privacy-preserving, reusable age credential that is redefining how age assurance works across the internet, and our Verifications platform, the hosted orchestration layer that powers age verification and creates AgeKeys.

AgeKeys is infrastructure work with global impact. You will build turnkey solutions that enable industry-wide adoption, drive interoperability with mDLs, digital IDs, and other forms of true age signals, and navigate the ecosystem to make AgeKeys the standard for age assurance.

Our Verifications platform handles the critical work of age verification through facial age estimation, ID document verification, credit card checks, and jurisdiction-specific methods. You will ship features that make this stack best-in-class while ensuring it seamlessly feeds the AgeKeys ecosystem. k-ID's AgeKit+ is one branded implementation of this platform.

This is a high-stakes product role at the intersection of age verification expertise and digital identity. You will partner with leadership on strategy while owning the day-to-day product decisions that turn vision into shipped software.

• Own the AgeKeys Product Vision and Roadmap: Ship products that enable any verification provider or platform to adopt AgeKeys as the neutral, interoperable standard for age assurance across the open internet. Drive interoperability with mDLs, digital IDs, wallet credentials, and other forms of true age signals. Envision and build family-focused AgeKeys - a solution that reimagines how digital youth and their families interact with age credentials across platforms.

• Drive Verifications Platform Execution: Own the product backlog and ship features for our hosted age verification platform. Prioritize verification methods, define and optimize delightful, fast, and high-trust UX flows. Resolve conflicting age signals across methods. Pioneer intelligent orchestration - waterfalls, fallback logic, and method selection - that sets the industry standard for verification accuracy and powers AgeKey creation at scale.

• Security, Fraud Prevention, and System Resilience: Ensure all processes are auditable and regulatory-approved for strong double-blind verification with no path to traceability or trackability of users across the internet. Design revocation, expiration, and risk-scoring models that anticipate fraud vectors including industrialized credential creation, key sharing, and verification bypass - trust is the currency of this system. Build for resilience at internet scale.

• Enable Industry-Wide Adoption: Work with partners like Socure, Persona, Incode, and Veratad to expand the AgeKeys ecosystem. Build turnkey solutions that any verification provider can integrate. The goal is an ecosystem where no single company controls how age is verified online.

• Navigate the FIDO/Passkey Ecosystem: Engage with the FIDO Alliance, passkey advocates, and platform wallet teams. Turn potential skeptics into advocates for privacy-preserving age assurance.

• 5+ years of Product Management Experience: Proven track record shipping products in identity, verification, authentication, age assurance or Fintech. You have managed APIs, SDKs, or platform infrastructure, not just frontend UI and have taken products from spec to production in complex, regulated environments.

• Identity Protocol Fluency: Deep familiarity with age assurance technologies (facial estimation, ID verification) and identity standards (OIDC, Verifiable Credentials, MDOCs). You understand the technical trade-offs of verification accuracy, false positive rates, and fraud vectors.

• Privacy-Preserving Mindset: You understand the mechanics of data minimization, double-blind systems, and selective disclosure. You can design products that meet strict anti-fraud requirements without compromising user privacy.

• Product Craft & Execution: Obsessive about shipping. You write clear specs, run tight sprints, and make decisions with incomplete information. You have strong product taste and can articulate clear product principles. You measure success in shipped code and customer adoption, not just strategy decks.

• Naturally Curious: Not satisfied with surface-level answers-you dive deep into verification accuracy, false positive rates, and edge cases. You want to understand why something works, not just that it works.

• Comfortable with Ambiguity: Makes thoughtful decisions about scope, tradeoffs, and priorities with minimal direction. You don't wait for perfect information.

• Passion & Conviction: You believe the internet's approach to age and identity is fundamentally broken, and you want to fix it. You've thought about this problem before you saw this posting.

• FIDO/Passkey Ecosystem Familiarity: Practical experience deploying FIDO2 or passkey-based authentication in a consumer application. You understand the friction points of ecosystem compatibility (Apple vs. Google vs. Windows).

• Direct Age Verification Experience: You have built or managed products specifically for age estimation, parental consent flows, or COPPA/GDPR-K compliance.

• Verification Vendor Experience: Background working at or deeply integrating with identity providers (e.g., Yoti, Socure, Persona, Au10tix). You know the limitations of the current vendor landscape.

• Technical Product Fluency: Comfortable reviewing API documentation, interpreting JSON responses, and providing meaningful feedback to engineering. You can read specs and engage on system architecture tradeoffs.

• "0 to 1" Startup Experience: You have shipped products in early-stage environments where ambiguity is high and resources are constrained.
