Lead Developer (Laravel)
Location: Exeter / Hybrid (3 days in office)
Salary: Up to £70,000 DOE
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
The role entails leading the development team on a modern, scalable platform, with a strong emphasis on Laravel expertise and full-stack/backend development. You will help shape the technical direction of the business, drive innovation, and mentor developers as they deliver high-quality solutions that enhance performance and user experience.
Working closely with the Head of Product, you'll take a hands-on approach to architecting, developing, and deploying new features using Laravel, React, and related technologies. This role balances technical leadership with hands-on coding and thrives in a collaborative environment focused on building elegant, efficient, and maintainable software.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, build, and deployment of scalable new platform features
- Architect clean, secure, and maintainable technical solutions
- Develop high-quality code across Laravel (PHP) and React (JavaScript/TypeScript)
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver robust, user-focused solutions
- Guide and mentor developers, championing best practice and continuous improvement
- Proven experience as a full-stack or back-end developer with strong Laravel expertise
- Proficiency in React, MySQL, and cloud platforms (ideally AWS)
- Background in architecting and deploying complex applications
- Experience leading or mentoring within a development team
- Strong communication skills and a passion for technical excellence
- Bonus: experience with React Native, DevOps, or serverless architecture
- Salary up to £70,000 (DOE)
