Job Description

We are seeking a senior technical leader to shape solution architecture standards across our GenAI portfolio. Reporting to the Head of GenAI CoE - Tech Delivery, you will ensure architectural coherence, reusability and best practice across business units while enabling rapid, responsible innovation at scale.

What you will do

You will lead a federated community of GenAI solution architects, creating a consistent approach to design while respecting local delivery needs. This includes running communities of practice, facilitating knowledge sharing and offering coaching, guidance and escalation support for complex technical decisions.

You will review major solution designs, provide challenge where needed and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles and group technology strategy. You will validate non functional requirements such as security, scalability, resilience and performance, and help teams manage technical debt effectively.

You will define and maintain standards, reference architectures and reusable patterns for GenAI, covering areas such as model selection, prompt engineering, RAG patterns, agent frameworks and documentation practices. You will capture lessons learned through design reviews and post implementation assessments, helping drive continuous improvement.

A key part of the role is building technical coherence through standardisation and reuse. You will shape the approved GenAI technology stack, inform vendor strategy and guide technology decisions. You will identify shared capabilities, reusable components and APIs that accelerate delivery across business units, while ensuring teams retain the flexibility needed for innovation.

You will set integration standards for GenAI solutions, including data access, security, governance, hybrid LLM architectures, prompt management and observability. You will also maintain a catalogue of reusable patterns and accelerators that support a build once, use many approach.

You will remain hands on when required, supporting complex or high risk deliveries. This includes co designing solutions, producing high quality architecture artefacts, prototyping and validating approaches for new use cases, and troubleshooting multi system issues. You may support incident response when issues arise from architectural design.

Essential skills
  • Significant experience in solution architecture within complex or matrix organisations.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver enterprise grade solutions using GenAI technologies such as LLMs, RAG, agents and related frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP and modern application architectures.
  • Deep knowledge of GenAI architecture patterns including retrieval augmented generation, agent frameworks, fine tuning and prompt engineering.
  • Experience with vector databases, embeddings and semantic search.
  • Strong capability in API design, integration patterns and enterprise system architecture.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI principles, model governance and MLOps practices.
  • Ability to influence through technical credibility and coach other architects.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate between technical detail and business priorities.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance short term delivery with long term architectural vision.
What you will gain
  • The opportunity to shape the technical foundation of GenAI adoption across a major organisation.
  • The chance to lead a high calibre architecture community and influence strategic direction.
  • Exposure to cutting edge GenAI technologies and novel enterprise challenges.
  • Deep experience in large scale GenAI architecture and visibility with senior leadership.
  • A strong platform for progression into senior technical or architecture leadership roles.
  • The satisfaction of building core capabilities that will enable long term innovation and impact.
