Lead Engineer - Permanent Opportunity

Location: Leeds, UK
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days office/2 days home

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an exciting Lead Engineer opportunity with a global engineering and technology organisation based in Leeds.

The successful candidate will play a key role within the Engineering function, leading projects from execution through to completion while working closely with internal teams, customers and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects through the execution phase, coordinating multiple internal stakeholders and client requirements.

• Oversee projects ranging from $5M to $200M in value, typically delivered over 12-24 months.

• Take responsibility for top-level engineering design and technical documentation.

• Produce and review technical documentation including:

  • Testing procedures

  • Assembly drawings

  • Design specifications

  • Schematics

  • Operating manuals

• Lead internal and external project design reviews.

• Provide regular project status and progress updates to Engineering Management.

• Support projects through build and testing phases.

• Review technical specifications and provide engineering guidance.

• Understand customer requirements and identify appropriate engineering/product solutions.

• Work collaboratively with engineering, project management, manufacturing and other functions.

• Ensure engineering activities comply with company processes, quality requirements and health & safety standards.

• Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of engineering solutions.

About You

We are looking for an experienced engineering professional with:

• A degree in Engineering or a suitable alternative qualification with relevant experience.

• Experience in engineering project delivery or project execution.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

• Experience working with internal and external customers/stakeholders.

• Ability to lead technical discussions and engineering design reviews.

• Strong organisational and project management skills.

• A proactive, adaptable and collaborative approach.

Desirable Technical Skills

Experience with some of the following would be advantageous:

• SAP/PLM systems

• Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

• AutoCAD

• Inventor or other 3D CAD packages

• MathCAD

• Engineering design and documentation

• Testing, qualification and technical review processes
