LEAD BIOLOGIST - DRUG DISCOVERY

The candidate will lead early-stage drug discovery programs, mostly based on small molecules and occasionally on therapeutic antibodies. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of the assay flowchart from hit identification over hit- and lead- optimization up to selection of a preclinical drug candidate. You will be expected to manage and follow-up all biology-related scientific and non-scientific aspects of the projects (including planning, timelines and budget) also in collaboration with partners (academic, CRO's, biotech/pharma). In addition to working with our internal lab team in a matrix-structure, you may also be expected to execute lab-based activities in support of one or multiple projects. The candidate will report on progress of the project and ensure an overall good communication between the internal and external partners involved. The candidate will report to the Director of Drug Discovery (Biology).
Profile:
• You hold a PhD degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Bio-engineering, Pharmacy or equivalent; in addition you have > 5 year productive post-doc experience, illustrated by high-quality publications and/or direct experience in working in Biotech or Pharma.
• You have a broad expertise in biochemistry, cell biology and/or in vitro pharmacology. Ideally, you have experience in small-molecule and/or antibody drug discovery.
• You have extensive experience in developing and implementing new assays and models to support drug discovery projects. A background in neuroscience (neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration) or in immunology is a plus.
• You are a team player who can operate independently with attention for quality and details and at the same time be outgoing and a strong networker;
• You are an ambitious, hard and diligent worker willing to take responsibility and learn fast;
• You are pro-active, goal oriented and can handle deadlines and pressure while taking responsibility for multiple projects at the same time;
• You are communicative and diplomatic, and have excellent presentation skills (in English).
