Lead Accountant

Blyth Full Time Permanent

Reed Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a well-established business in Blyth to recruit a Lead Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified accountant to join a growing finance team and take ownership of the month-end reporting cycle while providing valuable financial insight to support operational and strategic decision-making.

This role would suit a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working closely with both operational stakeholders and finance colleagues, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the month-end accounts production and reporting cycle
  • Prepare and post monthly journals, including accruals and prepayments
  • Produce accurate and timely management accounts in line with reporting deadlines
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Deliver monthly flash reports and weekly KPI reporting
  • Oversee the accounts payable function, including reviewing and approving payment runs
  • Provide financial analysis and insight to support business performance
  • Support the Operations team and wider Group Finance function with reporting and project work
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and efficiencies
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data across reporting activities

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or be actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification
  • Previous experience in a similar accounting or finance role within a commercial environment
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems (IFS experience would be advantageous)
  • Experience producing management accounts and supporting month-end processes
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • The ability to build effective relationships and communicate confidently with stakeholders across the business
  • A proactive approach and a desire to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
