Job Purpose: The post-holder is expected to uphold and actively promote the ethos of St Leonards. The Tutor of LAMDA will prepare pupils in Years 4 to 8 (either individually or in small groups) for the LAMDA examinations.
Key Responsibilities- Teach the LAMDA syllabus on an individual or group basis to pupils who have enrolled.
- Manage a timetable for Drama lessons within and outside of curriculum time, taking into account pupils' other commitments.
- Teach 30 minute lessons per day during school hours, during term time, as allocated by the Director of Drama.
- Maintain regular contact and communicate effectively with parents, the Director of Drama and relevant staff regarding lesson times.
- Prepare annual progress reports.
- Enter pupils for the LAMDA exams and performances, as appropriate.
- Assist the Director of Drama to produce LAMDA showcase events, as and when required.
- This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities and duties, and it is expected that the post holder will participate in activities according to the needs of the School and for better fulfilment of the role.
- Educated to degree level in Performance or Drama or a related subject.
- GTCS registered.
- Experience of teaching Drama to a younger age range.
- Enthusiastic teaching practitioner.
- Ability to create and deliver engaging and effective lessons.
- Enthusiasm to inspire in students a desire to learn and participate.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Competent user of ICT, incorporating the use of ICT in lessons.
- Ability to work as part of the School team.
- Approachable.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for planning own workload.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and keep to deadlines.
- Sensitive to the needs of others and supportive when required.
- Professional manner and appearance.
