A temporary, full time Laboratory Technician position is available at Manpower UK's global FMCG client in Port Sunlight. This six month contract, based at the scientific Research and Development facility, requires 37.5 hours weekly, Monday to Friday. The salary ranges from £25,935 to £28,817 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience. The successful candidate will work as a Fragrance Lab Compounder, collaborating with teams across all Unilever Business Groups globally. Key responsibilities involve preparing fragrance samples and supporting product development. Applicants should possess strong attention to detail and relevant laboratory skills. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to well known brands like Dove and Persil.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately weigh out materials to a defined recipe and order of addition
- Accurately record all laboratory work including labelling
- Safe handling and storage of a range of raw materials
- Work closely with laboratory team and raw material assistant manager to ensure good communication around stock levels and requirements
- Ensure all equipment is kept clean and calibrated for accurate use
- Comply with all safety and lab management procedures (Risk Assessment, Health Safety, Laboratory Management, Standard Procedures)
- Update project team on challenges and timing changes
- Practical laboratory experience in accurately making samples
- Proven keen eye for safe and effective procedures
- Curiosity in fragrance
- Background in perfumery, chemistry and formulation knowledge and understanding
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work alone as required
- Awareness of safety within the laboratory, including working to standard operating procedures, risk assessment and CoSHH
- Highly motivated; numerate with great attention to detail and an interest in products and fragrances
- Ability to communicate clearly around deadlines and challenges
- Digitally literate
- Ability to stay calm under changing priorities
