Our client is seeking a highly skilled L2 Systems Engineer to join their company in Gauteng. This role requires an experienced professional who can lead technical initiatives, drive the transition toward proactive, data-driven and intelligence led IT services, and ensure strict regulatory and cybersecurity compliance within a Managed Intelligence Platform (MIP) environment.
Requirements:- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proven experience in an L2 Systems Engineer, Senior Support Engineer, or similar role
- Strong expertise in IT infrastructure, networking, virtualisation, and hybrid cloud environments
- Hands on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure, including solution design and optimisation
- Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware
- Practical exposure to AI tools, machine learning frameworks, or data analytics platforms (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- In depth understanding of compliance and regulatory standards including GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST frameworks
- Strong cybersecurity knowledge including threat intelligence, incident response, SIEM platforms, and endpoint protection tools
- Proven ability to lead or contribute to large scale IT transformation projects and service model transitions
- Experience working with agile methodologies, project management, and change management practices
- Relevant certifications such as:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent
- Microsoft Azure Administrator/Architect
- VMware VCP
- Cybersecurity certifications (Security+, CISSP, CISM)
- ISO 27001, ITIL, COBIT, PRINCE2, PMP, or Scrum certifications (advantageous)
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Lead and support advanced L2 infrastructure, systems, and cloud operations in a hybrid IT environment
- Design, implement, optimise, and maintain hybrid cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and VMware platforms
- Drive the adoption of proactive, data driven IT services through AI, automation, and analytics tools
- Implement and manage cybersecurity controls, threat detection, and incident response processes
- Integrate and maintain AI based security tools, including SIEM platforms and endpoint protection solutions
- Lead technical projects such as infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, and service transformation initiatives
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and governance frameworks through audits, risk assessments, and control implementation
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to support change management and service improvement initiatives
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence
R35,000 - R40,000 per month, dependent on experience and qualifications.
