Job Description
KS1 Teacher - Primary (Derby)

We're currently recruiting for a KS1 Teacher to join a welcoming Primary School in Derby on a long-term basis starting in September.

You'll be joining a supportive and inclusive school that places high expectations, creativity and pupil wellbeing at the centre of its approach. This is a great opportunity for an experienced teacher or ECT looking to build strong relationships with pupils and become part of a positive school community.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons across the KS1 curriculum
  • Supporting pupils with reading, writing, phonics and mathematics
  • Assessing pupil progress and adapting teaching to meet individual needs
  • Creating a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment
  • Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupil independence
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants and wider school staff
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues

Requirements or Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Recent primary teaching experience, ideally within KS1
  • Strong knowledge of the KS1 National Curriculum
  • Experience delivering phonics and early reading
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
