We are now recruiting for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team at Russell Churcher Court on a temporary three month contract.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and service.

About the Kitchen Assistant Role

Working under the supervision of the Catering Manager / Cook, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth and safe operation of the kitchen. Your primary focus will be maintaining excellent hygiene standards and assisting with the preparation and service of meals for residents, including those with special dietary needs.

As our Kitchen Assistant you will be responsible for:
  • Washing crockery, cutlery, pots, and pans and maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • Cleaning kitchen equipment in line with the Russell Churcher Court cleaning rota and approved materials
  • Ensuring compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and COSHH Regulations 1994
  • Correct use, storage, and handling of cleaning materials in line with policy
  • Assisting the Catering Manager/Cook with serving residents' meals, including special dietary requirements
  • Attending training as required
  • Participating in supervision sessions and staff meetings
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties as directed

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable, polite, and self confident
  • Able to work both as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Willingness to undertake training
  • Interest and pride in your work
  • Commitment to being an active member of an efficient catering team

  • Flexibility to provide cover for kitchen staff leave where required
It would be great if you had:
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Some previous catering experience
  • A good sense of humour
