Our day surgery unit is looking for an experienced nurse to join their ward team as a Deputy Sister/charge nurse.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and versatile individual to join us, where there will be opportunities to develop and extend skills across the whole department including pre and post-operative care.
The applicant must have an interest in day surgery, good communication and leadership skills, and experience in managing small teams. You will need to be flexible and able to contribute to the delivery of high standard care. We will provide support and encouragement to enable you to develop and achieve your full potential.
We are a dedicated day surgery unit which has our own theatre, procedure room and recovery area on the same floor as our pre and post-operative ward. We work closely together as a team to ensure the patient experience is of a high-standard throughout day surgery. Our unit consists of a small friendly team and the department has two dedicated theatres. We currently offer a variety of surgical procedures to our local community.
Main duties of the job- support the senior nursing team with team management, appraisals and staff education/training
- will be professionally accountable for maintaining their standards of professional practice in line with the NMC Code of Conduct.
- will work autonomously, managing a caseload of patients within the day surgery unit, whilst working as part of the multi-disciplinary team, delivering high standards of holistic care for the group of patients within their sphere of responsibility
- will act as a clinical expert and be regularly responsible for the management and co-ordination of the clinical area and act as the day to day designated deputy for the Day surgery Unit.
- will educate and provide specialist knowledge in the care of patients to staff and students
- will ensure safe and effective clinical practice
- will ensure the promotion and implementation of trust policies and the effective delivery of organisational objectives

Person Specification Qualifications- NMC Registration
- RSCN/RN Child Branch
- Evidence of working in speciality area
- Experience of working in immediate post-operative recovery

- Competent in the appraisal process
- Evidence of rota planning and outreach experience for students
- Drugs and IV administration competent
