Contract: Permanent. Hours: Full time (37.5 hrs per week) or part time (minimum 23 hrs per week). Salary: £39,959 - £48,117 per annum pro rata.
Job overview
We are looking for an experienced nurse with strong emergency or acute care experience and current NMC registration to step up to a Band 6 role within our Emergency Department. The Emergency Department is a Major Trauma Centre receiving patients from the wider Surrey and Sussex area.
The role includes rotating through the ED, the Resus and the Urgent Treatment Centre, and participating in multidisciplinary collaboration to achieve patient focused outcomes.
In house training is available in emergency skills such as venepuncture, cannulation, ultrasound guided vascular access, plastering, catheterisation and more.
Main duties of the job- Ensure optimum standards of care for all patients attending the A&E Department.
- Undertake assessment of patients via prioritisation systems and continuous assessment under supervision.
- Plan, implement, evaluate and re evaluate individual programmes of care, respecting patients' dignity, religious and cultural needs.
- Maintain competence in skills such as plastering, wound closure, suturing, ultrasound guided vascular access and defibrillation.
- Ensure nursing care complies with departmental, NMC and Trust policies, protocols, procedures and guidelines.
- Handle heavy patients or objects in accordance with the Trust Moving and Handling Policy.
- Registered nurse with extensive experience in acute care.
- Practice assessor or mentorship module completion.
- NMC registration.
- Awareness of Trust position and current emergency quality indicators.
- Basic administrative duties: phone, photocopying, computer data entry.
- Team leadership experience; knowledge of appraisal process.
- Completion or near completion of the ECA Level 1 competencies.
- ILS.
- Basic IT skills - Microsoft Office.
- TILS or equivalent level 1 trauma course.
- Venepuncture.
- Critical care and minor injury skills.
- Management experience and development.
- Leadership course.
- Understanding of patient tracking systems.
- Evidence of championing diversity in previous roles.
- Evidence of personal development to improve understanding of equalities issues.
