Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Gynaecology Junior Sister to join our dynamic team at Barts Health. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse who is passionate about delivering high quality, patient centred care within a busy and diverse outpatient gynaecology service.

This post contracted hours 30hrs a week, which may include long days of a 12 hrs shifts or a 7.30hrs shift depending on service needs.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the experience of women accessing our emergency gynaecology/early pregnancy and outpatient procedure clinics. This individual will provide expert clinical care, guide junior colleagues and students, and help us to continually improve what we do. This band 6 junior sister will need to have a passion for women's health, work well within a team and will show skill and potential in leadership.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • NMC Registered Nurse 3 years post registration experience including a minimum of 2 year's recent experience within gynecology specialty.
  • Mentorship in Practice course or equivalent
  • Leadership course.
Experience
  • Relevant experience in gynaecology nursing is essential.
  • Experience in mentoring and supporting Junior staff.
  • Experience in Mentoring Students on placement
  • Experience in shift coordination and taking charge
  • Previous Leadership experience.
  • Experience in Problem Solving.
  • Complaint management.
  • Conflict management.
  • Previous Performance
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of key issues pertaining to Gynaecology nursing care
  • Ability to facilitate change
  • Ability to be reflective, accept criticism and act constructively
  • Ability to act as a Positive role model
  • Knowledge and understanding of current issues in Gynaecology
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of key indicators of excellent quality care
