Overview

The Commercial department is central to ensuring the financial viability and contractual success of our projects. Responsible for cost management, procurement, valuations, and contract administration, the team works closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, and clients to monitor budgets, mitigate risk, and maximise value throughout the project lifecycle. Their expertise ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with contractual obligations - safeguarding both client satisfaction and company profitability.

Role Overview:

Due to significant growth, we are seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding Commercial Team in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career with a dynamic company delivering high-value turnkey projects ranging from £1M to £6M across the Residential, Commercial, Pharma, and Data Centre sectors.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Support the financial and commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account. Responsibilities will include assisting with cost planning, preparation of BOQs, contract documentation, and monthly valuations, as well as monitoring job costing and preparing interim claims with supporting evidence.
  • Work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, contributing to commercial reporting, subcontractor engagement, and payment assessments.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and site teams to ensure effective communication and successful project delivery.
  • Support in preparing and reviewing contract documents, identifying potential risks and assumptions, and helping to implement robust internal processes to improve commercial performance.
  • Timely submission of documentation, support in compiling monthly progress reports, and ensuring payments are received in line with contract conditions are essential elements of the position.
