Our Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Junior Human Factors (HF) Engineer to join our team who can provide project delivery support across our range of projects as well as working closely our bidding teams to contribute towards future growth of the company.

This position is ideal for a fresh Graduate coming from a Human Factors or Ergonomics degree, or someone looking for their first career move from a User Centred Design background.

We work closely with the engineering and safety functions in a consultative manner and engage directly with our end users, so strong stakeholder communication is key to the success of this role.

This position is based in London (St Katherine's Dock), with a small percentage of travel to other sites in the UK and occasionally overseas.

Key Responsibilities

You responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • To provide HF input to work packages and have an awareness of project delivery timescales
  • Read and understand HF requirements for a project
  • Work closely with stakeholders both within Hitachi Rail and externally with clients
  • Ensure products and projects meet the needs of the end user groups
  • Carry out HF activities at all stages of the systems design lifecycle
  • Evaluate HF related issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions
  • Input to bids
Technical Skills and Experience

You'll need to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Understanding of HF integration
  • Able to support a variety of HF work packages and assessments
  • Support and present work at customer meetings
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt message content depending on the audience
  • Able to make sense of 'noisy' information and solve problems
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Motivated to learn, go on site and develop skills
Human Skills

More than anything else, we're looking for someone who is passionate about Human Factors Engineering.

Qualifications
  • Degree/Masters or equivalent in Human Factors/Ergonomics
  • Attained or working towards CIEHF
What to Expect

This role will be open to applications until Friday 14th November.

We aim to complete a two-stage interview process. Your first interview will be a virtual interview. The second stage interview will focus on behavioural competencies and will be in-person at our St Katherine's Dock office.
