General Description:

The Jr. Environmental Specialist provides support related to the environmental and permitting activities of early and advanced development stage renewable energy projects, as well as projects under construction. This individual will also support the potential acquisition or sale of such projects and will coordinate teams of consultants and internal resources to effectively and efficiently guide Finerge's projects through the environmental study and permitting process.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Business Development team with implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure timely permitting of development stage projects and permit compliance for construction and operational stage projects.

• Develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers at local and national levels with the goal of fostering productive and ethical relationships with permitting authorities.

• Conduct environmental due diligence on potential greenfield or acquisition opportunities.

• Develop environmental study for specific projects in consultation with internal resources, such as the Legal, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance, Investment Analysis and Energy Assessment teams.

• Prepare milestone schedule and budget requirements to complete environmental studies.

• Manage and coordinate efficient civil and environmental permitting of projects using both internal and external resources.

• Manage preparation of permit applications to agencies, represent Finerge in hearings and proceedings, and maintain documentation of the process and conditions for all permits.

• Coordinate with the Construction and Asset Management & Operations teams to ensure permit compliance of projects.

• Assist with the development and implementation of a documentation plan regarding civil and environmental permit compliance for operating renewable energy facilities.

Professional Experience:

• 1-4 years of demonstrated experience with environmental compliance for energy projects.
• Experience in local and national policy development a plus.
• Technical knowledge of biodiversity concerns relating to operations of wind and solar power projects preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software & notions of ESRI ArcGIS software is mandatory.

Academic requirements:

• Engineering or Environmental degree. Specific master is a plus.
