Role: Junior / Graduate Quantity Surveyor

Location: Hinkley Point C

We are seeking a Junior / Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team on-site at HPC.

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in Power Transmission project, delivered via FIDIC terms and conditions.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a high-value infrastructure project, ensuring cost control, contract management, and overall commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Management

  • Monitor and control project costs to ensure the project is delivered within budget.
  • Keep site records including labour, plant and material plus progress records using Field View software.
  • Analysis site records to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Validate and manage subcontractor and supplier payments.

Contract Administration

  • Assist in administering subcontracts using contract administration software "Fast Draft".
  • Assist in preparing variation proposals (using site records) ensuring timely submissions and agreement.
  • Work closely with the Construction Manager to maintain accurate and comprehensive site records.

Risk and Value Management

  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks.
  • Assist in value engineering to optimise project performance and reduce unnecessary costs.

Reporting

  • Provide regular financial reports, including cost-value reconciliations (CVRs) and forecasts.

Collaboration

  • Liaise with the client, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain strong relationships.
  • Support the procurement team in evaluating and appointing subcontractors.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

  • Some experience as a Junior Quantity Surveyor on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects would be an advantage.
  • Excellent financial management and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., CEMAR, MS Excel, or similar tools).

Desirable:

  • Some experience or knowledge on power infrastructure or substation projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
